Full Stack Software Engineer, Junior
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Junior Full Stack Software Engineer to support the development of technical solutions for our Wargaming and Modeling & Simulations team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building software, learning new technologies, and working independently within a small technical team.
The engineer will contribute across the application stack, including user interfaces, backend services, data integration, testing, and deployment. Work with users and technical team members to understand requirements and build practical software solutions. Develop and maintain web applications across frontend and backend components. Build backend services, APIs, and application logic using Python. Develop user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks and languages and integrate applications with databases, APIs, and other data sources. Write, test, debug, and maintain reliable software. Other responsibilities include using Git and collaborative software development workflows, researching unfamiliar technical problems and evaluating new tools and approaches, and contributing to application deployment, automation, and technical documentation.
We are looking for a curious, self-directed engineer who has strong software fundamentals and is excited to learn. The ideal candidate does not need experience with every technology we use but should be comfortable researching new problems, experimenting with unfamiliar tools, and taking ownership of technical tasks from development through deployment.

You Have:
  • 1+ years of experience with software development
  • Experience programming with Python
  • Experience building applications with a modern frontend framework or web development technology
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, software testing, and dependency or package management
  • Experience with databases and SQL
  • Experience with Git and source control
  • Ability to independently research technical problems
  • Ability to learn new languages, frameworks, and technologies
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or Engineering field

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience building full-stack applications through coursework, internships, personal projects, or professional work
  • Experience programming with frontend languages or frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or similar modern web technologies
  • Experience with AI/ML, geospatial systems, modeling and simulation, or defense-related applications
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or similar environments
  • Experience with containers such as Docker
  • Ability to demonstrate an interest in learning application deployment, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and software security best practices
  • Ability to work in small teams where engineers may contribute across multiple parts of a system

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $53,000.00 to $108,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
