Job description

Global Technical Systems (GTS) provides innovative, cost-effective, high-tech engineering products and product-based services encompassing latest generation software and hardware solutions and engineering services for defense, homeland security, and other critical Government interests. GTS products and services span a spectrum that includes: mission-critical combat systems processors; C4ISR; technology development including threat detection, biometric identification systems, and composite applications for munitions, armor and energy storage; avionics test systems; and lifecycle logistics support and repair. GTS will provide engineering support services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Engagement Systems specific to the High-Power Microwave (HPM) Weapons Systems Division (E50). Services include HPM prototype design and development as well as system testing and evaluation. We are in search of a Junior Engineer for this effort on-site.

General Description:
Provides engineering support including prototype design, development, testing, evaluation, and integration of directed energy prototypes. Supports the design of complex systems. Applies system, hardware and software knowledge to the design and development of new prototypes and the redesign / modification of existing systems
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support research and experimentation for directed energy systems including high-power microwave, laser, and pulsed power prototype systems.
  • Support system performance and feasibility analysis, upgrade and modernization of directed energy prototypes.
  • Support technology experiments, technology assessments, testing, and analysis of alternatives.
  • Provide design inputs to the development of directed energy prototype systems.
  • Interact with customers, engineers, and program management to successfully complete projects.
  • Consider approaches and techniques for rapid prototyping, development and test.
  • Support the development and update of engineering documentation, including schematics, technical specifications, analysis, test procedures, and reports.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
BS degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four years of general engineering experience. US Citizen, Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
Working Conditions:
This work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment. Physical demands include ability to lift and/or move 10 -25 pounds.

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including directly relevant experience, education, advanced degrees, specialized training, certifications, skills, military experience, and other applicable qualifications. Final compensation will also take into consideration internal equity, contract requirements, and business needs.
