The Junior Quality Engineer supports daily manufacturing operations by monitoring product and process quality, addressing quality concerns, and supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Manufacturing, and Maintenance to ensure customer requirements are consistently met and nonconforming product is properly contained.

This is ahands-on, production-floor-focused role, with the majority of time spent supporting quality activities, audits, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities: 
  • Monitor manufacturing processes and products to ensure compliance with customer and quality requirements.

  • Perform product, process, and layered process audits and verify adherence to Control Plans, Standard Work, and quality alerts.

  • Identify and contain quality issues, including nonconforming material, scrap, rework, and production defects.

  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone.

  • Assist with customer complaints, warranty investigations, GP12, Safe Launch, and other containment activities.

  • Review quality data and trends to identify opportunities for defect reduction and process improvement.

  • Verify error-proofing devices, fixtures, and measurement equipment are functioning properly and support calibration activities.

  • Maintain quality records, audit results, customer scorecards, and other required documentation.

  • Support operator training on quality requirements and workmanship standards.

  • Participate in customer, internal, and third-party audits as needed.

  • Communicate quality concerns to Production and Management and support verification of corrective actions.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, or a related field, or equivalent manufacturing experience.

  • 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or quality, preferably in an automotive or similar production environment.

  • Understanding of quality inspection techniques and manufacturing processes.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand basic GD&T.

  • Knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving methods.

  • Familiarity with Control Plans, Layered Process Audits (LPA), and basic SPC.

  • Experience using measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Work Environment & Expectations:
  • This is a hands-on manufacturing role that requires significant time on the production floor.

  • The manufacturing environment may be hot, noisy, and dirty and requires standing and walking for extended periods.

  • Must be comfortable working independently while also collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and training to production personnel.

  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, including applicable MIOSHA requirements.
