Senior Civil Project Engineer
JQOL is seeking a Senior Civil Project Engineer to support and lead civil engineering design efforts across Indiana and Kentucky. We are looking for a dynamic and driven professional to help shape the future of our growing company. This position offers the opportunity to lead multidisciplinary teams, oversee high-impact projects, and play a key role in client engagement and business development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and management of civil engineering projects from concept through construction, ensuring design excellence, financial performance, and client satisfaction. This is a leadership-track position for engineers with demonstrated experience managing both technical work and people.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as project manager on complex civil/site development projects across multiple markets.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, including junior engineers and CAD designers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and efficient resource allocation.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and financial tracking to meet performance goals.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support new business development efforts through proposals, presentations, and networking.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on engineering design, including grading, stormwater management, utilities, erosion control, and permitting.
  • Review plans, specifications, calculations, and technical reports to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including design partners, public agencies, and contractors.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in civil/site design and project management.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana and/or Kentucky.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing staff, budgets, and client accounts.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and a strong desire to stay current with design tools and software trends.
  • Advanced understanding of permitting processes, agency coordination, and municipal design standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and present to clients or public entities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
