Tier 3 Unified Communications/Audio Visual Engineer
Annapolis Junction, MD
IT Veterans is seeking a Tier 3 Unified Communications/Audio Visual Engineer to provide expert-level engineering, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support for enterprise Unified Communications (UC) and Audio Visual Multi-Media (AVMM) systems. The Tier 3 Engineer will serve as a senior technical resource, resolving escalated issues, designing advanced solutions, and ensuring optimal performance across telephony, video teleconferencing, chat, IPTV, digital signage, mass notification, Land Mobile Radio (LMR), and secure AVMM environments. This role requires advanced technical knowledge, strong problem-solving ability, and the capability to lead complex implementations in both CONUS and OCONUS environments. You must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the highest escalation point for troubleshooting and problem resolution of UC/AVMM systems.
  • Lead root-cause analysis for complex hardware, software, and network integration issues.
  • Provide Tier 3 expertise for installation, configuration, and maintenance of UC systems across enterprise environments.
  • Develop and optimize UC system designs, ensuring interoperability across multi-level security systems and enterprise platforms.
  • Conduct system performance monitoring and proactively identify optimization opportunities.
  • Provide detailed technical documentation including system diagrams, engineering change proposals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Design and implement upgrades, patches, and configuration changes with minimal service disruption.
  • Perform in-depth hardware/software integration testing, staging, and validation.
  • Support site surveys, system migrations, and enterprise deployments in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 2 teams by providing advanced training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.
  • Act as a technical liaison with Government stakeholders for system performance, upgrades, and capability expansion.
  • Maintain accountability for hardware and software assets through configuration and inventory management processes.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • High School diploma with 15+ years of progressively responsible UC/AVMM engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise UC/AVMM environments at the Tier 3 level.
  • Strong expertise with one or more UC/AVMM technologies (Cisco, Avaya, Poly, Crestron, Extron, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with VTC infrastructure, VoIP systems, and AV signal distribution technologies.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, network architecture, and secure communication protocols.
  • Ability to perform escalated troubleshooting across hardware, software, and network layers.
  • Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Industry certifications such as:
    • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D)
    • Crestron DMC-D or higher
    • Extron AV Associate Certification
    • Cisco CCNP Collaboration
    • Dante Level 2 or 3
  • Experience supporting UC/AVMM environments within DoD or Intelligence Community settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers.
