Job description

Who We Are

PEAKE is a dynamic small business committed to excellence, innovation, and integrity. We lead with a team-first mindset, grounded in accountability, service, and doing the right thing — always. We value fresh perspectives, continuous learning, and individuals who take ownership of their work while supporting those around them. Collaboration isn’t just encouraged here, it’s expected. We believe strong relationships, disciplined execution, and a commitment to improvement are what set us apart. We are looking for a skilled, self-motivated AV Network Installation Technician to join our growing team supporting critical government infrastructure at Fort Gordon, GA.

Position Overview

This role supports the physical and field-side buildout of network and audiovisual infrastructure on a government installation. Day-to-day responsibilities are centered on hands-on execution, running structured cabling, terminating endpoints, configuring workstations, and setting up, operating, and dismantling AV equipment in support of live and recorded events. The technician validates installation quality throughout, ensuring all connections and systems perform to mission standard. This is a field-facing installation position, not a backend administration or software configuration role.

Active DoW Secret clearance preferred; however, PEAKE is willing to sponsor qualified candidates for a security clearance.

Position Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Installation

  • CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution system installation, including pulling cable, fire stopping, cable dressing, and labeling to industry standards.
  • Terminate all forms of Ethernet and fiber cabling using various methods; familiarity with connector types and manufacturers.
  • Install closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures.
  • Test single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations; experienced with Fluke and OTDR testing, fiber optic troubleshooting, and fiber characterization testing and resolution.
  • Configure workstations and perform network troubleshooting to confirm installed connections are performing as intended.
  • Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix).

Audio & Visual Systems Installation

  • Set up, operate, maintain, and dismantle AV equipment including microphones, speakers, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, video cameras, video monitors and servers, and related electronic equipment for live and recorded events.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support Crestron, Extron, and AMX AV control systems, including programming updates, touch panels, DSPs, switchers, and associated control hardware
  • Route and terminate AV signal cabling; verify signal flow and equipment functionality from source to display and output.
  • Troubleshoot AV system issues and validate quality of signal, audio clarity, and visual output prior to event execution.
  • Support integration of AV systems with network infrastructure where required by the scope of work.
  • Coordinate with facility stakeholders and team members to execute AV installations aligned with client and mission requirements.

General

  • Attend training and safety meetings; adhere to company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Serve in a team lead capacity as needed, providing guidance and quality oversight to junior technicians.
  • Adapt to varying client environments and technology stacks; the range of equipment encountered will reflect the scope of each engagement.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of relevant experience; OR
  • 9+ years of relevant experience instead of a bachelor’s degree (6 years substituted for degree requirement plus 3 years of required experience).

Required Qualifications

  • Active DoW Secret clearance or higher.
  • Direct hands-on experience in cabling, network infrastructure installation, or AV systems installation.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting AV control systems, including Crestron, Extron, and/or AMX platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with copper (CAT 5/6) and fiber optic cabling—installation, termination, and testing.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling standards and closet hardware installation.
  • Ability to configure networks and perform installation-level troubleshooting to validate connectivity and system performance.
  • Previous team lead duties on relevant installation or infrastructure projects.
  • Physically capable of field work: maneuvering around installation sites and communications closets, prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting 50 lbs or more.
  • Must be able to work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security+ certification.
  • BICSI Installer/Technician certification or equivalent, proven experience as a fiber optic specialist.
  • Military networking, AV/communications, or SATCOM background. Candidates with military experience often bring a broader scope of technical and operational responsibility that translates well to the demands of this position — all relevant experience is evaluated equally.
  • Applicable hardware, software, or AV system certifications commensurate with the technical environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and 11 paid federal holidays
