Job description

Are you interested in learning the fundamentals of internal audit and developing a strong understanding of governance, risk management, and internal controls?

Under close supervision, this role assists with internal audit engagements and supports audits evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes. This position is designed to build foundational internal audit, professional, and risk management competencies in alignment with The IIA Internal Auditing Competency Framework.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow in a professional audit environment are essential for success in this role.

The Opportunity: We are seeking a Jr Auditor to join our team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn and apply internal audit standards, ethics, and professional practices.
  • Assist with audit engagements by performing assigned audit procedures.
  • Perform basic testing of controls and transactions following established audit programs.
  • Document business processes through narratives, walkthrough notes, and basic flowcharts.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain audit documentation within the audit management system.
  • Verify financial and operational information and trace data to supporting documentation.
  • Assist in identifying control gaps, process inefficiencies, and potential risks.
  • Support the preparation of draft audit observations, workpapers, and reports.
  • Participate in audit meetings, interviews, and walkthroughs.
  • Facilitate annual site visits by credit union regulators, CPA audit firms and external auditors
  • Provide administrative and project support to management as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate’s degree or higher, preferably in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience within a financial institution.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and document work clearly and completely.
  • Commitment to integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Able to initiate and embrace change. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a team environment.
