Job description

Journeyman Manual Machinist

York, PA
Full-Time | First Shift
$36–$42/hour, based on experience

Overtime Opportunities

Are you an experienced Manual Machinist who would rather work on challenging, one-of-a-kind parts than stand at the same machine making the same production part all day?

We are hiring a skilled Journeyman Manual Machinist in York, PA for a clean, air-conditioned machine shop specializing in industrial repair, remanufacturing, precision machining, and large-part machining.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who knows how to set up and run manual lathes and mills, read blueprints, hold tight tolerances, troubleshoot machining problems, and take pride in producing quality work.

If you are a true machinist who enjoys figuring things out, working independently, and using your experience instead of simply pushing a button, we want to talk with you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Set up and operate manual lathes, manual mills, and other machine tools
  • Machine, repair, and remanufacture precision industrial components
  • Work with large parts and unique, one-off machining projects
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances
  • Determine machining sequences, speeds, feeds, tooling, fixtures, and setups
  • Perform machining calculations and make adjustments as needed
  • Use OD and ID micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Inspect finished parts to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Create sketches and determine dimensions when repairing or matching existing components
  • Troubleshoot machining, setup, tooling, and part-related problems
  • Make adjustments to CNC lathes and mills when needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced machinist—not an entry-level machine operator.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • 5+ years of hands-on manual machining experience
  • Strong experience setting up and operating manual lathes
  • Strong experience setting up and operating manual mills
  • Ability to independently set up a job from a blueprint or drawing
  • Experience holding close tolerances
  • Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills
  • Experience performing machining calculations
  • Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and precision measuring tools
  • Experience machining, repairing, or modifying industrial components
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Familiarity with CNC lathes and CNC mills
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a skilled machining team

Experience with large-part machining, repair machining, job-shop machining, industrial equipment repair, prototype work, or one-off machining is highly desirable.

Trade school, machining certification, technical education, apprenticeship training, or equivalent hands-on experience is preferred.

Why This Position Stands Out

This is not a repetitive high-production machine operator job.

You'll work on a variety of industrial components and challenging repair projects where your machining knowledge actually matters.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Work on different projects instead of the same part every day
  • Machine and repair large industrial components
  • Use both manual and CNC machining skills
  • Solve real machining and repair problems
  • Work alongside experienced tradespeople
  • Work in a clean, air-conditioned shop
  • Build a long-term career with a company that values skilled craftsmen

Pay & Benefits

  • $36–$42/hour, depending on experience
  • First-shift schedule
  • Overtime opportunities
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Life insurance
  • Short-term disability insurance
  • Full-time, long-term employment

Apply Today

If you have experience as a Manual Machinist, Journeyman Machinist, Toolroom Machinist, Repair Machinist, Engine Lathe Machinist, Manual Lathe Machinist, Manual Mill Machinist, Precision Machinist, Industrial Machinist, or CNC/Manual Machinist, we encourage you to apply.

We are especially interested in machinists who can independently take a job from blueprint and setup through machining, measurement, troubleshooting, and final inspection.
