Job description

Machine Builder II
Location: Onsite
Employment Type: Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Travel: Up to 20%
Pay: 32/hr

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder II to assemble, test, and commission highly customized industrial filling machines. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong mechanical assembly experience and working knowledge of electrical cabling and troubleshooting. Youโ€™ll work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to deliver complex automation solutions that meet customer and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble fully customized, complex filling machines according to detailed engineering drawings and specifications
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly, including cabling and basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve mechanical and electrical challenges during machine builds
  • Modify or fabricate parts using hand tools, power tools, and basic machining equipment
  • Inspect, test, and adjust completed machines to ensure quality and performance standards are met
  • Conduct machine testing, commissioning, checkouts, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
  • Complete build documentation and coordinate with vendors and sales teams as needed
  • Identify and communicate inventory shortages, BOM errors, and quality concerns; assist with NCRs/ECRs
  • Support customer needs by tracking down parts and responding to urgent service requests
  • Maintain accurate build records and documentation
  • Follow all safety protocols and quality standards
  • Occasionally assist with customer installations or on-site service visits
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic electrical schematics
  • Proven mechanical assembly skills with high attention to detail
  • Experience with electrical cabling and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and basic fabrication equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate forklifts and/or scissor lifts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical diploma or associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or related field preferred
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience assembling industrial equipment
  • Experience with packaging machinery or automation systems is a plus
Certifications
  • Forklift and scissor lift certification (or ability to obtain)
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and industrial odors
  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses, safety-toe footwear, and hearing protection
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, and reaching above shoulder height
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
