Job description

Summary
The purpose of this position is to perform basic functions to insure efficient daily operations of the Feed Mill.
Key Responsibilities
  • Mixing and loading poultry feed for delivery to multiple farm locations
  • Apply knowledge of SQF and Safe Food/Safe Feed practices during all mill activities
  • Receiving and maintenance of ingredient inventories
  • Preventative maintenance and repair of mill and related equipment
  • Maintaining a clean safe Mill environment
  • Provide back-up support to Mill Manager as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Agricultural experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a feed mill is preferred.
  • Training in preventative maintenance programs, mechanical and electrical systems desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Good communication skills with a teamwork attitude are essential.
  • Self-motivation with a drive for safe quality feed is required.
  • Computer skills, Word, Excel required.
  • Mathematical ability is required.
  • Knowledge of production agriculture desirable.

Physical Demands
Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 60 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to climb up to 150ft by ladder.
Work Environment
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Employee may work in outside environment where temperatures vary seasonally. Clothing must be worn based on seasonal weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Certain areas may be loud enough to require ear protection. All personal protective equipment will be provided and required during certain working conditions and in certain areas. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places.
