Job Recruiting information

What is job recruiting?

Job recruiting is the process of finding, attracting, and selecting qualified candidates for employment within an organization. Recruiters work to identify talent, screen applicants, conduct interviews, and coordinate the hiring process. Their goal is to match the right candidates with open positions, ensuring both the company’s and the applicants’ needs are met. Job recruiting can be handled internally by a company's human resources team or externally by specialized recruiting agencies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a job recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Job Recruiter, you need strong interpersonal skills, an understanding of talent acquisition strategies, and knowledge of recruitment processes, often supported by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, and HR software is typically required. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills help recruiters excel in connecting with candidates and hiring managers. These skills are vital for identifying top talent efficiently and ensuring a smooth and effective hiring process.

What are some common challenges recruiters face when sourcing candidates for hard-to-fill positions?

Recruiters often encounter difficulties finding qualified candidates for hard-to-fill roles due to skill shortages, niche requirements, or high competition in the market. These roles may require specialized experience or certifications that limit the candidate pool. To address this, recruiters typically expand their sourcing strategies by leveraging professional networks, social media, and employee referrals, as well as proactively reaching out to passive candidates. Creative problem-solving and strong communication skills are essential for overcoming these challenges and successfully filling critical vacancies.

What is the difference between Job Recruiting vs Human Resources?

AspectJob RecruitingHuman Resources
Primary FocusFinding and attracting candidates for specific job openingsManaging overall employee relations, policies, and organizational development
Required CredentialsRecruitment certifications, HR knowledgeHR certifications, broader HR expertise
Work EnvironmentRecruitment agencies, corporate HR departmentsCorporate offices, HR departments
Employer & Industry UsageUsed across industries for staffing needsUsed for overall HR management in organizations

Job recruiting specifically focuses on sourcing and hiring candidates for open positions, while human resources encompasses a broader range of employee management tasks, including onboarding, training, and policy development. Both roles are essential in the hiring process but serve different functions within an organization.

Job description

Inspire. Support. Lead. Make a Difference.

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley, our mission is simple and powerful: to inspire and enable all young people - especially those with unmet needs - to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring community members.

Everything we do is rooted in our values: Kids First, Caring Adults, Safe & Healthy Environments, Responsible Stewardship, and Opportunity for All.
We’re youth-centered, collaborative, and committed to leadership that strengthens our community. Every day, our team works to ensure young people experience supportive relationships, safety, recognition, opportunity, fun, and belonging.

If you’re energized by purpose-driven work and want to help build an organization where every kid can thrive - this is where you belong.

About the Role

The Recruitment and HR Coordinator is a key role in strengthening our team by leading recruitment efforts for youth-facing staff and volunteers while ensuring a welcoming and effective onboarding experience for new team members. In addition, you’ll provide essential support across HR operations, helping ensure employees across our organization receive timely, responsive and professional support throughout the employee lifecycle.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts for youth-facing staff and volunteers.
  • Develop talent pipelines to support current and future staffing needs.
  • Build relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and program leaders to support effective hiring decisions.
  • Actively maintain compliance with hiring requirements including pre-activation checks, applicant records and employment documentation.
  • Support key HR operations throughout the employee lifecycle, including employee records, timekeeping, compliance tracking and HR processes.
  • Service as a first point of contact for human resources with employees across multiple locations.
  • Contribute to HR projects, process improvements and initiatives that strengthen the organization and employee experience.

Why Join Us?

Because what happens here matters.
Because every young person deserves opportunity.
Because you can help strengthen an environment where caring adults change lives every day.

You’ll be part of a team defined by compassion, integrity, learning, collaboration, and purpose - all working together to make the Fox Valley a great place for all youth to grow.

Who We’re Looking For

A collaborative, mission-driven human resources professional with:

  • 2-3 years of experience in human resources, recruiting or talent acquisition.
  • Full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally including high-volume or seasonal hiring. Recruiting experience in youth-serving, education or camp/childcare environment a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey information in a timely and clear manner, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency with ATS platforms, and a track record of maintaining data accuracy and integrity; experience in Paycom a plus.
  • Reliable transportation, and flexibility to visit primary branches on a rotating schedule.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning, and a commitment to excellence.

Compensation Range $24.00 to $26.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

This role is based at our Appleton Club and supports a multi-site workplace; regular on-site presence is expected. We are not able to offer relocation assistance.

Equal Opportunity Employer

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley is committed to creating an inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, religion, color, marital status, sex, national origin, ancestry, veteran’s status, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity or expression, or any other legally protected status.
