IT Technical Writer - Alexandria, VA (On-Site, TS/SCI Required)
About the Role:
Seize the opportunity to make a significant impact as an IT Technical Writer supporting mission-critical U.S. Army communications and technology initiatives. Based in Alexandria, VA, your expertise will directly enhance operational readiness and contribute to the evolving technical landscape of our nation's defense. Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and military personnel to capture and translate complex technical processes into clear, concise, mission-aligned documentation
- Develop and maintain user manuals, system guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support critical Army systems
- Identify documentation gaps, propose solutions, and ensure all deliverables meet DoD and Army standards
- Operate within a fast-paced, adaptive environment, working closely with both civilian and military stakeholders
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems to produce and manage high-quality documents
- Ensure compliance with security, version control, and document lifecycle management requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
- Active TS/SCI security clearance (must have)
- Minimum 5 years of technical writing experience in IT, cybersecurity, or defense environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint
- Familiarity with DoD and Army documentation standards, including MIL-STD and Army style guides
- Ability to interpret complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Strong grammar, formatting, and editing abilities
- Knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity principles, and network infrastructure terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with military terminology and protocols
