The company supports both piston-engine and turboprop aircraft and provides custom propulsion solutions for electric, hybrid-electric, and advanced air mobility programs. Hartzell has continued to expand its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including Tanis Aircraft Products in 2021 and Whirlwind Propeller in 2024, strengthening its experimental market offerings. Since 2024, Hartzell has also enhanced its MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) presence through the acquisition of 9 separate MRO facilities across North America and Europe.


Description

Hartzell seeks an IT Systems Administrator to architect, implement and support the use of IT systems and software applications. In addition, this position is responsible for performing regular system maintenance updates, backup and recovery tasks, and assisting other staff in day-to-day administration support areas. It is important that IT policies, procedures and standards are also maintained and documented with key requirements in focus. On occasion, the IT Systems Administrator may be tasked to support the other businesses in the Hartzell family and should have flexibility to travel to other sites. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills along with a customer focused attitude and excellent communication skills. Certification in CCNA or Network+ are not required but would benefit you in this role.


Key Deliverables of the Position:

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including servers, virtualization technology, storage infrastructure, switches, firewalls and other network peripherals.
  • Stay abreast of updated software and technology options and make recommendations for implementation to further enhance the technological environment at Hartzell.
  • Monitor system performance, diagnose problems, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement new systems, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Communicate issues to all IT team members, provide oversight, knowledge and input.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve software and hardware related issues.

  • Learn the company systems and build productive relationships with the end users.
  • Able to work independently through most issues but efficiently communicate and/or escalate to other team members when necessary.
  • Able to manage time effectively and understand the priority of issues/projects in a manufacturing-based environment.
Requirements:

Required Experience:

  • Degree in Information Technology, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical support role. Network and System administration experience is required.

Required Technical Competencies

  • Strong technical skills in hardware, software and networking.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience with enterprise networking infrastructure.
  • Network administration experience. Network+ or CCNA certification is a plus.
  • System administration experience with Server OS, Server Administration Tools, Virtualization Technology and Storage Infrastructure.
  • Enterprise security responsibilities and experience is preferred.
  • Strong technical skills with Active Directory security and optimization.

Desired Secondary Technical Competencies

  • ERP manufacturing software experience
  • VoIP phone system
  • Networking manufacturing devices (production machines, PLC’s, etc.)
  • Mobile technologies
  • Knowledge of robotics in a manufacturing environment
