Job description

We are seeking a highly autonomous and proactive Senior IT Systems Administrator to lead and manage our technology infrastructure at our corporate office located in The Woodlands, TX. As the sole IT professional for our organization, you will have complete ownership of our systems, ranging from high-level Azure cloud architecture to the physical maintenance of our on-site hardware.

You will set the technical strategy and security standards while remaining the primary hands-on person for daily operations and help desk support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Management: Maintain and optimize a hybrid environment featuring Hyper-V, Windows Server, and Linux instances.
  • Modern Workspace Migration: Lead the transition from legacy on-premises file shares to OneDrive and SharePoint Online. This includes restructuring data, managing complex permissions, and ensuring a seamless move for all users.
  • Cloud & Identity: Lead the administration of Azure/Entra ID, including the implementation and enforcement of MFA and conditional access policies across all platforms.
  • Network Ownership: Manage the full UniFi network stack (firewalls, switches, and APs) and maintain physical server racks and cabling.
  • Database & App Support: Provide basic oversight and maintenance for MSSQL and MySQL environments.
  • Communication Stack: Administer RingCentral and Microsoft Teams to ensure seamless company-wide communication.
  • User Support & Security: Act as the final point of contact for all Help Desk tickets (Windows 10/11, printing, and hardware). Manage endpoint security, antivirus deployment, and system backups.

Technical Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years in Systems Administration, ideally in a solo or small-team environment where you managed diverse stacks.
  • Microsoft Expert: Deep knowledge of Windows Server, Azure/Entra ID, and Hyper-V virtualization.
  • Network Savvy: Proven experience with UniFi or similar software-defined networking, including VLAN configuration and physical rack management.
  • Hybrid Skills: Comfortable navigating Linux environments and managing SQL databases (MSSQL/MySQL).
  • Security Focused: Demonstrated experience implementing modern security protocols across a distributed workforce.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The "Problem Solver" Mentality: You don't wait for a manual; you find the solution.
  • Physical & Digital Dexterity: You are as comfortable in the Azure portal as you are with in the server room.
  • Clear Communicator: You can translate "tech-speak" into plain English for our 60 users.
  • High Autonomy: You enjoy the freedom (and responsibility) of being the primary architect of an IT department.
