Job description

At Houston Methodist, the IT Program Manager position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating inter-related projects to ensure goals and objectives of the program are accomplished within prescribed time frame, funding parameters and requirements. This may include enterprise wide projects. Organizes and prioritizes the inter-related projects to ensure alignment with the organization's strategic goals working closely with IT Project Management Leadership and stakeholders across the organization including Sr. and Executive Leadership. Coordinates and manages program resources availability and allocation.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline with an information technology focus.

EXPERIENCE
  • Eight years of successful experience in implementing IT multi-project activities, preferably in a healthcare environment.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred
  • PMP - Certified Project Management Professional (PMI) and
  • PROSCI - Certified in Prosci Change Management (PROSCI)

  • Reviews inter-related projects to determine priority, time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project. Determines staffing requirements, and allotment of available department resources.
  • Facilitates governance process and supports IT owners in formulating business cases for presentation to appropriate council(s).

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures adherence to standards and procedures for project initiation, planning, execution, control, monitoring, and closure defined by the Portfolio & Process Management Office for all projects within the program.
  • Creates and updates program documentation and reports.
  • Ensures consistent implementation of governance, work plan and staffing for each phase of the project within a program.
  • Facilitates the onboarding and training of new project managers and contractors to Houston Methodist project management process and procedures.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Consolidates project expenditure and forecasts information within the program.
  • Validates budget, actuals, forecast and variance cost with management.
  • Ensure all projects within the program have properly closed project expenditures.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Proposes opportunities to improve the Portfolio & Process Management Office and leads improvement initiatives by planning, implementing and ensuring adoption. Stays up to date on knowledge of applicable industry standards, guidelines and technology trends and seeks opportunities to share expertise with more junior project management team members.
  • Proactively manages own professional development and completes Individual Development Plan (IDP).
