Job Title: Senior SAP IT Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Merrillville, IN
Work Model: Hybrid (Tuesday–Thursday onsite, Monday & Friday remote)
Rate: $65–$70/hour
Contract Length: August 1, 2026 – February 1, 2027
Extension / Conversion: Hire to FTE after 6–7 months

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP IT Engineer to support a major SAP-enabled transformation initiative in a complex enterprise environment. This role will focus on hands-on engineering, technical delivery, integration, testing, security, and deployment support across Meter-to-Cash (M2C) and Customer Service processes, including SAP S/4HANA Utilities, SAP Service Cloud, and related SAP technologies.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical experience across SAP design, configuration, development, integration, and testing in large, multi-vendor enterprise programs. This individual will work closely with internal teams, third-party partners, architects, and program stakeholders to help ensure SAP solutions are engineered, integrated, tested, secured, and deployed in alignment with business requirements and enterprise standards.

This role is best suited for a strong senior-level engineer who can balance hands-on technical execution with cross-team coordination, issue resolution, delivery quality, and operational readiness.

Key ResponsibilitiesSAP Engineering & Technical Delivery
  • Support end-to-end SAP solution delivery for Meter-to-Cash (M2C) and Customer Service processes.
  • Perform and support technical activities related to SAP S/4HANA Utilities, SAP Service Cloud, and related SAP products.
  • Contribute to the design, configuration, customization, and integration of SAP applications to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Work in conjunction with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure SAP solutions are delivered in alignment with overall program needs.
  • Support technical traceability across requirements, design, build, testing, and deployment activities.
RICEFW, Development & Integration Support
  • Support SAP-specific RICEFW delivery, including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows.
  • Help ensure SAP development activities are aligned with requirements, standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Contribute to integration efforts across SAP and non-SAP platforms using technologies such as SAP BTP Integration Suite, RESTful APIs, middleware, and related tools.
  • Support SAP integration with connected enterprise platforms, including identity and access management systems and other business applications.
  • Work across team boundaries to ensure technical solutions are properly coordinated and implemented.
Testing, Quality & Technical Validation
  • Support SAP testing activities including unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, and performance testing.
  • Help ensure test cases, defects, execution evidence, and results are documented appropriately in Jira, qTest, and related tools.
  • Participate in technical validation, defect resolution, troubleshooting, and readiness assessments.
  • Contribute to delivery quality by ensuring technical components meet performance, security, and supportability expectations.
Deployment, Cutover & Hypercare
  • Assist with deployment, cutover, and hypercare planning and execution activities.
  • Support knowledge transfer to internal operational teams and managed service providers.
  • Help ensure solutions are operationally ready, supportable, and properly documented for transition to production support.
  • Participate in post-go-live issue resolution and stabilization activities.
Security, Compliance & DevSecOps
  • Support the design, implementation, and testing of SAP security roles, access models, and compliance controls in alignment with company policies and SAP best practices.
  • Contribute to activities related to SAP GRC Access Control and related governance requirements.
  • Support adherence to DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, code scanning, automated testing, unit test coverage, and static/dynamic security analysis.
  • Help establish and support SAP monitoring capabilities, including error handling, performance monitoring, and abnormal-use detection.
  • Ensure technical solutions are aligned with security, compliance, and privacy requirements, especially within a utility environment.
Collaboration, Governance & Support
  • Coordinate with vendors, internal teams, and program stakeholders to support timely delivery and integration of SAP solutions.
  • Participate in status reporting, risk identification, issue resolution, and governance-related activities tied to SAP delivery.
  • Communicate technical issues, dependencies, and recommendations clearly across team boundaries.
  • Support continuous improvement in engineering practices, solution quality, and operational readiness.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Support SAP engineering and delivery activities across configuration, development, integration, and testing.
  • Review technical progress and coordinate with internal and vendor teams on open items and dependencies.
  • Assist with RICEFW tracking, technical documentation, and requirements traceability.
  • Support test execution, defect management, and technical issue resolution using Jira, qTest, and related tools.
  • Participate in working sessions across SAP workstreams, integration teams, and program leadership.
  • Help prepare technical updates, delivery status inputs, and support documentation.
  • Assist with deployment readiness, hypercare support, and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Contribute to security, compliance, and DevSecOps activities within the SAP landscape.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States via citizenship or green card.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in SAP solution delivery, including design, configuration, development, and integration activities.
  • Proven experience with SAP implementations in complex, multi-vendor enterprise environments.
