What is an IT asset manager?

IT Asset Managers are professionals responsible for tracking, managing, and optimizing an organization’s information technology assets. This includes hardware such as computers and servers, as well as software licenses and digital resources. Their main goal is to ensure the company is using its IT assets efficiently, maintaining compliance, and reducing unnecessary costs. They also oversee asset procurement, deployment, maintenance, and disposal, making sure all assets are properly inventoried and up-to-date.

What are some common challenges faced by IT asset managers in keeping track of company assets?

IT Asset Managers often face challenges such as maintaining accurate inventories of hardware and software, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and managing assets across multiple locations or departments. Keeping up with rapid technology changes and preventing asset loss or unauthorized use are also ongoing concerns.
