Brooklyn Elementary School - Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher
Position
Brooklyn Elementary School is seeking dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centered educators for several long-term substitute teaching positions across various elementary grade levels. These positions have varying start and end dates throughout the school year, with some assignments anticipated to run between August and November. The ideal candidates will be passionate about creating positive learning environments that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. Successful applicants will demonstrate flexibility, collaboration, and a commitment to fostering meaningful learning experiences in an engaging and supportive classroom setting.
Responsibilities




  • Develop and implement engaging, grade-appropriate lesson plans aligned with curriculum expectations and educational standards.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and a love of learning.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and behavioral or academic concerns.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, specialists, and administration to support student success.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Maintain positive classroom management practices that promote respect, responsibility, and engagement.
  • Utilize educational technology and instructional resources including our curricular programing, Wit and Wisdom, iReady Math and UFLI to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school activities as appropriate.
  • Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources to support effective teaching and learning.
  • Supervise students during school-related activities as assigned.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field required.
  • Valid Connecticut teaching certification preferred.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and comply with district policies and procedures.
  • Must complete all pre-employment requirements before the start date.


Salary

  • 1st 40 days $140.00 per day
  • 41st day Per Contract with the BEA
