Title: UFLI Staff Assistant
Calendar: A1, School Days
ESP Salary Schedule: Range 20 Step 1
Hours: 3.5/Day 17.5/Week
Location: Liberty Elementary
General Purpose
Teach scripted UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Institute) early literacy lessons to small groups of students in Kindergarten through second grade. Work with other students as needed to provide extra instruction and practice essential grade level standards that they have not mastered.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Deliver scripted interventions to individual and/or small groups of students.
  • Provide tutoring that reinforces subjects already taught and discussed.
  • Monitor/record data required for academic programs.
  • Manage student behavior in small group settings and intervene when socially appropriate.
  • Notify supervisor of serious rule infractions/incidents. Administer minor first aid.
  • Enforce school rules.
  • Administer assessments at beginning and end of school year; records data on student progress as required by supervisors, as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • 48 college credit hours or a passing score on the ParaPro test
  • Knowledge and skill in understanding and using alphabetical and numerical systems
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • The job occasionally requires light physical exertion including walking, standing, and other forms of light physical activity.
  • The job occasionally requires a moderate level of physical exertion such as handling light/medium weight materials such as binders, instructional materials, laptops, or Chromebooks.
  • Work is carried out in an agreeable environment as generally represented by normal office conditions and little or no unpleasant elements.
  • Work involves sitting/standing in one position for an extended period of time.
  • Work typically involves contact with students, teachers, principal, assistant principal and/or other staff members.
