Job description
POSITION: Tier II and Tier III Literacy Intervention Teacher
LOCATION: .5 Bentley Elementary and .5 Dodson Elementary
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In conjunction with classroom Tier I and Tier II instruction, the Literacy Intervention Teacher provides targeted Tier II and Tier III support to strengthen students' foundational word recognition skills. The teacher delivers explicit, systematic lessons in phonemic awareness, phonics, decoding, and encoding using the UFLI Foundations curriculum, adapting instruction based on student data to meet individual learning needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Elementary Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Advanced coursework in reading instruction required.
- Classroom expertise in small group instruction.
- Endorsement in Reading Specialist (BR) (preferred).
Classroom teaching experience across elementary grade levels (at least 2 grade levels).
Experience in the administration and interpretation of formal and informal assessments.
- Experience working with a diverse population.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to work collaboratively and team with others.
- Demonstration of a working knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Extensive experience with UFLI Foundations (preferred).
- LETRS completion or active enrollment (preferred).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects and uses ongoing student performance data to plan and implement interventionstrategies for students targeted for assistance.
- Builds collaborative relationships with the classroom teacher, the building's support staff, the parents, and the principal to plan for effective Tier II or Tier III interventions for identified students.
- Knows and applies the fundamentals of child development, language development, and evidence-based practices when working with students and staff.
- Collaborates with teachers to maximize instruction for flexible groupings and for targeted instruction with selected students in the classroom.
- Uses UFLI Foundations to meet the diverse needs of students
- Coordinates with others to maintain records of students, interventions, and results as outlined by the MTSS process.
