Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher 

LOCATION: Green Bay Early Childhood Center

REPORTS TO: Principal

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Teaching and leading the implementation of Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to support the enhancement and maintenance of a positive school climate, effective classroom management, social & emotional skills development and effective behavioral interventions systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  3. Preferred Masters in School Counseling or Type 75 Principal Endorsement
  4. Experience:
  5. Required Elementary classroom teacher experience and familiarity with SEL Standards and Strategies


ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work closely with the school MTSS team and school administrators in strategic planning and to address the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) needs of students and support their academic success;
  2. Conduct SEL lessons in classrooms and with small groups of students;
  3. Coach classroom teachers and school staff in SEL strategies and effective responses to student behavioral needs;
  4. Collaborate with the school MTSS team in developing and maintaining intervention systems to support student social-emotional and behavioral needs;
  5. Assist in analyzing school behavioral and climate data sources
  6. Participate in SEL professional development activities;
  7. When individual student social, emotional, and/or behavior issues arise, collaborate with school staff on prevention, de-escalation, and intervention strategies, and identify opportunities for minimizing or addressing behavior issues in the future;
  8. Participate in the school Crisis Team;
  9. Support student attendance initiatives;
  10. Other duties as assigned

  1. Passion and urgency for the critical role of SEL/School Climate in improving the lives of students and families in the district
  2. Knowledge of best practices in school climate and SEL supports;
  3. Experience in the analysis of data to ensure improvement in professional practice;
  4. Experience in having critical conversations for the purpose of continuous improvement among peer and non-peer colleague groups
  5. Experience in consultation and assistance to peer and non-peer audiences
  6. Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups of professionals across multiple departments and organizations to achieve consistent practices
  7. Ability to provide professional development for a variety of stakeholders
  8. Ability to effectively achieve multiple goals and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  9. Ability to think critically and strategically;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Manual Dexterity: Work requires definite skilled and accurate physical operations requiring some closely coordinated performance.

Physical Effort: Work required handling average weight materials or equipment, but not for sustained periods.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   180 day contract

SALARY RANGE: See collective bargaining agreement

EVALUATION:  Conducted annually
