Job description

Your work days are brighter here.

At Workday, it all began with a conversation over breakfast. When our founders met at a sunny California diner, they came up with an idea to revolutionize the enterprise software market. And when we began to rise, one thing that really set us apart was our culture. A culture which was driven by our value of putting our people first. And ever since, the happiness, development, and contribution of every Workmate is central to who we are. Our Workmates believe a healthy employee-centric, collaborative culture is the essential mix of ingredients for success in business. That’s why we look after our people, communities and the planet while still being profitable. Feel encouraged to shine, however that manifests: you don’t need to hide who you are. You can feel the energy and the passion, it's what makes us unique. Inspired to make a brighter work day for all and transform with us to the next stage of our growth journey? Bring your brightest version of you and have a brighter work day here.

About the Team

The Strategic Planning Finance team is on a mission to maximize Workday’s growth and long-term value creation. We do this by driving data-driven decisions that optimize portfolio allocation and support the company strategy.
We are a dynamic, high-performing group of analytical thinkers and strategic problem-solvers. We balance meticulous attention to detail with a broad, strategic perspective and are passionate about delivering measurable impact across the organization. Our work involves close collaboration with leaders and teams across Business Finance, Operations, Strategy, Sales, Product, Corporate Development, and IT to enable informed decision-making and drive sustainable growth.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning Finance, you will take on high-impact responsibilities that reflect the scope and complexity of your team’s role. This role provides a unique opportunity to combine financial expertise, advanced analytical skills, and strategic thinking to inform key decisions at the highest levels of the organization.

We are looking for a proactive and curious individual who thrives on solving complex challenges. You excel at synthesizing financial and strategic analyses into compelling narratives, developing executive-level presentations, and identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance efficiency and scalability. You have a high tolerance for ambiguity and take initiative to steer initiatives forward.

Responsibilities

  • Address a strategic business challenge by developing hypotheses, analyzing internal data and relevant market or competitive insights, and delivering actionable recommendations.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, Business Operations, and Strategy, to generate meaningful insights that drive decision-making.

  • Analyze large datasets (e.g., ARR, ACV, KPIs, cost allocations) to uncover performance trends and growth opportunities.

  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations that simplify complex financial analyses into clear, impactful, and actionable insights.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to building scalable, repeatable financial tools and models.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a MBA with an anticipated graduation date no earlier than December 2025.

  • Available for a full-time, in-person 10-week internship during Summer 2025.

  • 2+ years experience across strategic finance, business operations, strategy/management consulting

  • 2+ years Financial modeling experience & analytical skills with a focus on building scalable, repeatable tools & processes

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
