How does the on call structure impact the daily responsibilities and work-life balance for a physical therapist at Google?

As an on call Physical Therapist at Google, your schedule may vary week by week depending on the needs of the campus health team and employee demand. This flexible structure often means you'll be called in for specific shifts, covering absences, or providing support during peak times. While this can offer flexibility, it also requires adaptability and strong time management skills, as your hours may not be consistent. You'll collaborate closely with other physical therapists, occupational health teams, and sometimes with Google's broader wellness staff to ensure seamless care for employees.

What is an on call Google physical therapy position?

An On Call Google Physical Therapy position refers to a physical therapist role at Google where the therapist provides care on an as-needed basis, rather than holding a regular full-time or part-time schedule. The position may involve working at Google’s on-site health facilities or virtually, depending on employee needs. On call therapists are crucial for ensuring employees have timely access to physical therapy services to address injuries, ergonomic concerns, or preventative care. This flexible arrangement offers both the company and the therapist the ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an on call physical therapist at Google?

To thrive as an On-Call Physical Therapist, you need a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, state licensure, and strong clinical evaluation and treatment planning skills. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), rehabilitation equipment, and scheduling or telehealth platforms is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to communicate clearly with patients and multidisciplinary teams are crucial soft skills. These abilities ensure high-quality, responsive care and seamless support for employees in a dynamic corporate environment.
