Job Description
Cell, gene and biologic therapies are rapidly growing parts of Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where research, development, and clinical manufacturing are highly integrated together at our site in Boston Seaport. VCGT CMC Cell Process Development team at Vertex (VCGT) is the team that is responsible for process development of cell therapy related processes for the pipeline products at VCGT. Additionally, the team also tech transfers the developed process at the manufacturing sites to provide a foundation to the start of manufacturing cell therapy-based products.
Vertex is seeking an associate to support the CGT department. Could be ideal for a student interested in gaining hands-on laboratory exposure while supporting essential operational activities such as data entry, bench work, record keeping, and routine lab support.
3 month contract

The key projects that the contactor will be focused on are described as follows:
  • Support execution of lab-based Process Development activities and experiments
  • Prepare related media and buffers in a sterile aseptic environment
  • Help support day-to-day lab operations, including preparation of materials, labeling, organization, and general lab readiness
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experiments, activities, and observations in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems
  • Support lab digitalization and maintain data integrity to follow corporate compliance
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of scientists and engineers

Qualifications:
  • Current bachelor's degree candidate in biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering or biomedical engineering with 0-2 years of work experience.
  • Hands-on experience in aseptic techniques, cell handling, cell culturing, media and buffer preparation is preferred.
  • Must be able to proactively communicate with the team, be organized, and maintain accurate records in electronic lab notebook.
  • Understanding of cell and gene therapy (as a part of previous internship/work or academic courses) is a plus.
  • Basic experience in statistical analysis, data visualization, writing protocols and reports.

Pay Range
$28-$30/HR
