Description
Mystic Seaport Museum is seeking seasonal non-union actor/interpreters for the Museum's Lantern Lights Holiday theatrical programming in Mystic, CT.
Lantern Lights - Actors will alternate between scripted plays/solo readings, and scripted interpretive/educational talks on various holiday-themed topics. Performers will be dressed in period costume circa 1876.
Performances are Thursday - Sunday December 3rd through December 20th, with additional performances on 12/21, 12/22, and 12/23. There are options for performing two out of four nights, or all four nights. Call times may be as early as 1:00PM. Work day is 2:30PM - 8:00PM.
Rehearsals begin in October.
Auditions are the week of September 21st. Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and in all weather conditions is required. For a full list of audition times, please see below. You will be contacted by the director to confirm your audition time. In your application, please note times you are available to audition.
Audition Times:
? Monday, September 21st: 5:30PM-9:00PM in 30 minute slots (ex. 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, etc)
? Tuesday, September 22nd: 5:30PM-9:00PM in 30 minute slots (ex. 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, etc)
? Wednesday, September 23rd: 5:30PM-9:00PM in 30 minute slots (ex. 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, etc)
? Thursday, September 24th: 5:30PM-9:00PM in 30 minute slots (ex. 4:00pm, 4:30pm, 5:00pm, etc)
? Friday, September 25th: 6:00pm-9:00PM in 30 minute slots (ex. 6:00pm, 6:30pm, 7:00pm, etc)
For the audition, please prepare:
? A 1-2 minute monologue, either classic or modern, dramatic or comedic. Memorized.
? 16-32 bars of music, a capella. 19th-century Christmas Carols preferred.
? You do not need to prepare a dance; a 19th-c. dance will be taught to you at the audition.
Requirements
? Must be at least eighteen years of age
? Previous acting/public speaking experience
? Willing to work weekends and evenings throughout October, November, and December.
? Willing to work outdoors and in all weather conditions, including rain, wind, snow, and cold.
? Knowledge of historical reenactment a plus
? Experience with improvisation a plus
Salary Description
$16.94 per hour
