Job description

A professional family in San Jose is seeking an experienced Weekend Family Assistant/Household Cook to provide household support on Saturdays and Sundays. The family includes two working parents and their one-year-old daughter and currently employs a full-time nanny and weekday cooks. This role is designed to keep the household running smoothly over the weekend so the parents can focus on spending quality time with their daughter.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, professional, and enjoys cooking healthy meals while helping with a variety of household responsibilities. Someone who takes initiative, follows instructions well, and enjoys supporting busy families will thrive in this position.

Position Details

Location: San Jose, California

Position: Weekend Family Assistant/Household Cook

Employment Status: Part-Time

Start Date: August 14, 2026

Schedule

  • Saturday and Sunday
  • Approximately 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
  • Six hours per day
  • Twelve hours per week

Compensation

  • $40.00 per hour

Primary Responsibilities

Cooking & Meal Preparation

  • Prepare healthy meals using recipes provided by the family
  • Complete meal preparation for the upcoming week
  • Prepare lunches for the work week
  • Organize groceries and pantry items
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
  • Wash dishes and clean up after cooking
  • Monitor pantry items and household food staples

Household Support

  • Complete the parents’ laundry, including washing, folding, ironing, and putting clothing away
  • Complete the child’s laundry
  • Change the child’s bedding
  • Organize closets as needed
  • Keep household supplies stocked and organized
  • Complete light household resets and organization
  • Assist with miscellaneous household projects

Child-Related Support

  • Provide occasional childcare when a parent briefly steps away
  • Heat and prepare the child’s meals
  • Assist during mealtimes and clean the highchair afterward
  • Prepare the child’s formula
  • Operate and unload the bottle washer
  • Tidy the child’s play area
  • Clean up after bath time
  • Empty the diaper pail and replace liners
