Job description


SAIC is seeking dedicated Technical Writers to join our team in support of the Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) project. This role involves producing, maintaining, and refining technical documentation that ensures consistent quality and usability for our customers. You will collaborate with engineers, technicians, and logisticians to develop content that supports a critical defense program.
Job Description:
As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating and updating a variety of technical and administrative materials, including reports, manuals, installation, operation, maintenance guides, proposals, and training documentation. Your work will directly support military systems development by capturing complex information and transforming it into clear, concise, and user-friendly documents. Key responsibilities include:
  • Utilizing word processing and publishing tools to produce materials such as memos, forms, publications, reports, tables, and graphs
  • Editing and reformatting drafts (written or electronic) to meet quality and style requirements
  • Collaborating closely with engineers, technicians, logisticians, and customers to gather technical details and translate them into comprehensive documentation
  • Creating pictorial and line-drawn instructions to enhance written materials
  • Refining and coordinating the work of other writers when necessary to ensure a cohesive and polished product
  • Ensuring compliance with customer standards, including MIL-STD requirements
  • Your contributions will enable the successful development, installation, and operation of CAC2S equipment and systems, helping to ensure mission readiness

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma at minimum
  • Experience in Technical Writing of manuals, MLA Format, MIL Standard preferred
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance within 60 days of hire; SAIC will help to obtain
  • Must be a US Citizen

Desired:
  • Three (3)+ years of technical writing experience
  • Proficiency in technical writing tools and software packages
  • Familiarity with military system documentation standards (e.g., MIL-STD-38784, MIL-DTL-81927)
  • Experience working in conjunction with multi-disciplinary teams (engineers, technicians, logisticians) to develop technical content
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to refine and edit technical information for clarity and accuracy
