  • Partner closely with Canadian Research Analysts, Sales Trading, Trading, Corporate Access, ECM, and Investment Banking to deliver coordinated and differentiated client coverage.
  • Drive client engagement through research calls, analyst access, corporate access events, non-deal roadshows, conferences, field trips, and bespoke investor meetings.
  • Identify and monetize client opportunities across high-touch trading, electronic trading, program trading, corporate access, research consumption, and capital markets transactions.
  • Build and manage a targeted client coverage plan designed to grow BMO's relevance, wallet share, market share, and revenue with U.S. accounts.
  • Provide timely market color, client feedback, and investor sentiment to internal partners across Research, Trading, and Banking.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Canadian equity market structure, sector trends, regulatory developments, and cross-border investment themes.
  • Represent BMO Capital Markets professionally with clients, issuers, and internal stakeholders while maintaining the highest standards of conduct, compliance, and risk management.
  • Contribute to the broader growth strategy of BMO's Global Cash Equities business, with a focus on expanding the firm's U.S. institutional footprint in Canadian equities.
Qualifications
  • Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Significant experience in institutional equity sales, ideally with a focus on Canadian equities and U.S.-based investors.
  • Established relationships with U.S. institutional clients that invest in Canadian equities.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian public markets, sector dynamics, research distribution, corporate access, and institutional trading workflows.
  • Proven ability to generate revenue, deepen client engagement, and convert research and content into commercial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Research, Trading, Sales Trading, Corporate Access, ECM, Investment Banking, and Compliance.
  • Commercial mindset with strong client prioritization, follow-through, and accountability.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, highly competitive, and team-oriented environment.
  • FINRA registrations as required, or willingness to obtain required licenses.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience covering U.S. institutional investors for Canadian equity products.
  • Existing relationships across major U.S. long-only, hedge fund, and multi-strategy accounts.
  • Familiarity with Canadian sectors where BMO has strong franchise presence, including Metals & Mining, Energy, Financials, Real Estate, Industrials, Consumer, Healthcare, Technology, and TMT.
  • Experience working closely with corporate access and capital markets teams to drive client relevance and monetization.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a business plan, prioritize accounts, and execute consistently against revenue targets.
Key Attributes
  • Client-first mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
  • High energy, proactive, and commercially focused.
  • Strong judgment and ability to balance client needs with firm priorities.
  • Collaborative team player who can operate across geographies and product groups.
