Job Description
The Healthcare Analyst reports to the Director of Operational Excellence and provides statistical and analytic support for environmental assessment, planning activities, continual improvement and performance measurement. This position identifies, extracts, organizes, analyzes, visualizes and interprets data from internal and external resources to provide information-driven answers, forecasts and explanations. This position also identifies and documents trends, correlations, anomalies and changes in data and is expected to teach basic statistic in our Organizational Excellence Programs.
Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting-30%
  • Environmental Assessment: Identify, extract, and organize information for and produce monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports on the internal and external environment of the institution.
  • Perform statistical analysis of data to identify trends, correlations, anomalies, and changes in the environment.
  • Maintain updated demographic, economic, and industry statistics and benchmarks.
  • Support annual benchmarking survey submissions and analysis.
  • Monitor progress and results of performance improvement initiatives.

Planning & Strategic Support-25%
  • Planning: Identify, collect, and organize information in support of planning processes, including business, strategic, program, and project.
  • Provide informational and data analytics for development of initiatives.
  • Research precedents, examples, best practices, and outcomes related to proposed initiatives to support scenario planning and forecasting.
  • Recommend meaningful metrics to document results of planned actions, including return-on-investment, clinical outcomes, performance improvement, and growth strategies.

Performance Improvement & Analytics-20%
  • Support development of measures for continual improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of analytics tools and resources.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of internal and external sources of data and information.

Special Projects / External Submissions- 15%
  • Leads the US News and World Report submission and is the expert on the process to extract the data and communicate gaps for improvement.

Education & Knowledge Sharing-10%
  • Teaches the Organizational Excellence 3.0 and 4.0 classes on basic statistical analyses including run charts, control charts, data definitions, data collection, sampling, and data visualization.
  • Serve as a resource to others and train them on how to access and leverage that same information.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in health analytics, engineering, statistics, or related field.
  • Experience: No minimum years of experience.

Education and/or Experience Preferred:
  • Education: Master's degree in health analytics, engineering, statistics, or related field.
  • Experience: Experience in analytics and projects

License and/or Certification Required:
  • N/A

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, collaboration tools and ability to learn Smartsheet.
  • Organizational and divisional policies and procedures; general knowledge of services provided to patients/families at Connecticut Children's.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker, with the ability to look into the details and interpret the impact of key industry drivers
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment,
  • Manage multiple priorities and make ongoing decisions.
  • Proven ability to break down complex problems into manageable goals.
