What are Internship Fintech Compliance roles?

Internship Fintech Compliance roles are entry-level positions designed for students or recent graduates interested in financial technology (fintech) and regulatory compliance. Interns assist compliance teams in ensuring that a fintech company adheres to legal and regulatory standards, such as anti-money laundering (AML) laws and data protection regulations. Tasks may include monitoring transactions, conducting research on new regulations, supporting internal audits, and preparing compliance reports. These internships provide valuable experience and exposure to both finance and technology industries, helping interns build a foundation for a career in compliance or risk management within fintech.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during a Fintech Compliance internship?

As a Fintech Compliance intern, you will typically assist with tasks such as monitoring transactions for suspicious activity, helping to update and maintain compliance documentation, and supporting the due diligence process for new clients. You may also work on projects related to regulatory reporting, internal audits, and the implementation of new compliance policies. This hands-on experience provides a strong foundation in both regulatory requirements and practical compliance operations, often involving collaboration with legal, product, and risk management teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship Fintech Compliance professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Fintech Compliance internship, you need a solid understanding of financial regulations, risk assessment, and basic knowledge of compliance frameworks, typically supported by coursework in finance, law, or business. Familiarity with regulatory technology (RegTech) tools, anti-money laundering (AML) software, and Excel is often required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills in this role. Job description

San Francisco, CA · On-site (5 days/week) · Full-time Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 + 0.05%–0.15% equity

About the Company

Our client builds AI compliance analysts that automate AML, KYC, KYB, and transaction monitoring end to end for banks and fintechs — clearing KYB and AML cases in minutes with zero integration or onboarding. The product eliminates ~90% of manual work, cuts compliance costs 4×, and makes onboarding instantaneous. It's trusted by leading institutions across the US, Canada, Europe, and LatAm, and the team has won every RFP it has competed in.

Founded 2024 · 1–10 people (Seed) · Industry: FinTech / Compliance / AI

The Role

The client is hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO, operate across every function, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks as the team scales — part right-hand-to-CEO, part generalist operator, part future GTM owner. You take what's on the founder's plate and either own it outright or drive it to the point where the only thing left is the decision.

Requirements
  • 0–4 years of total experience
  • Top-tier university preferred (MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, or comparable)
  • A structured thinker with high attention to detail
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and high ownership
  • A consulting, IB, VC, or startup-ops background welcome
Nice to Haves
  • An MBB consultant (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) with 1–3 years' tenure and a top-performer record
  • An investment-banking analyst at a top-tier firm with 1–2 years' tenure
  • Strategic ops or chief of staff at a top-tier startup with demonstrated 0-1 ownership and direct founder access
  • A top university pedigree paired with builder signal (founded something in college, a scrappy internship, hackathon wins)
  • A quantitative or technical undergrad with a non-technical career trajectory
Why Join
  • Direct-to-CEO, real 0-1 ownership: a genuine right-hand seat with a builder-owner growth path — shadow the CEO, then own GTM workstreams, then potentially run a function
  • A category-defining product with traction: compliance AI eliminating ~90% of manual work and cutting costs 4×, trusted across four regions with a perfect RFP win record
  • A strong early-career package: $120K–$160K + 0.05%–0.15% equity, plus paid relocation and a month of temporary housing, office meals, comprehensive healthcare, unlimited PTO, and an annual offsite
Details
  • Location — San Francisco, CA
  • Work policy — On-site, 5 days/week
  • Compensation — $120,000–$160,000 + 0.05%–0.15% equity
  • Visa sponsorship — Not available
  • Employment type — Full-time
