About Us:
The people of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) are united by a singular mission: ending cancer for life. Our specialized care teams provide personalized, compassionate, expert care to patients of all ages. Informed by basic research done at our Sloan Kettering Institute, scientists across MSK collaborate to conduct innovative translational and clinical research that is driving a revolution in our understanding of cancer as a disease and improving the ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat it. MSK is dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, who go on to pursue our mission at MSK and around the globe.
The Exercise Oncology Program at MSKCCconducts clinical trials to study the efficacy of structured exercise interventions in individuals before, during, and after cancer treatment across a broad range of cancer diagnoses.
Our research program investigates precision lifestyle interventions across the cancer care continuum. We focus on characterizing therapy-related side effects and identifying modifiable factors that impact patient outcomes. By leveraging digital health tools and remotely-delivered supervised exercise training within clinical trials, we also focus on reducing treatment-related toxicities, improving cancer-specific outcomes, and enhancing patient-reported outcomes. Our goal is to advance the implementation of personalized risk assessment and targeted lifestyle interventions to effectively prevent and manage toxicities following a cancer diagnosis.
Role Overview
  • Conduct research physiological assessments, i.e CardioPulmonary Exercise Testing (CPETs), operate EKG equipment, exercise ergometer, blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, saturation monitor and metabolic measurement system (Parvo TrueOne).

  • Implement and effectively monitor protocol-specific exercise training sessions. Provide modifications in exercise training sessions to accommodate needs of individual limitations and special populations; Identify common signs/symptoms during cancer treatment and take appropriate action within scope of practice.

  • Act as a main channel of communication between the management team and study participants; educate participants with accurate and appropriate information regarding measures, training and research.

  • Ensure quality & safety in all aspects of conducting research. This includes ensuring that all measures, recordings, plans and communications during assessment, execution and other duties represent the outlined best practices and ensure the overall safety of the participant.

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology

  • Certifications:

  • AHA BLS/ACLS (required)

  • ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist (preferred)

  • 2+ years of experience

  • professional or practical educational experience (i.e. internship) in exercise testing (i.e. CPETs)

  • Knowledge of ECG placement and preparation for exercise testing, proficiency in reading rest and exercise 12-lead ECG during maximal testing

  • Professional or practical educational experience in individual exercise training in special populations

  • Location: 353 E 68th Street & 300 E 66th Street

  • Hours between 7am - 7:30pm (8a-4p standard, subject to change)
