Job description

Position Title: Energy Management Systems (EMS) Installation and Commissioning Senior Technician Client / Program: Los Angeles Unified School District – Maintenance and Operations Position Location: Los Angeles Area Position Start Date: Approximately June to July Salary $143,000 per year as a full-time employee, plus full company benefits, including 10 paid vacation days, 11 paid holidays, and 5 paid sick days. Position Overview: The successful candidate for this position will be assigned to the LAUSD Facilities Program Position Functions: The EMS Senior Technician will oversee the installation, turnover, maintenance, and use of our EMS controls systems. The EMS Senior Technician will work with the LAUSD Technical Quality Support Team (TQST) and use the EMS to encourage preventative maintenance, identify potential energy conservation measures, and suggest facility improvements Duties: 1. Assist with HVAC DDC and EMS Controls Design and Submittal reviews 2.

Assist in reviewing utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro commissioning 3. Assist in reviewing EMS and energy data, and alarms to identify no cost/low-cost energy conservation measures 4. Assist in the review of EMS, energy data, and alarms to identify preventive maintenance measures 5.

Perform site visits to investigate as built conditions and trouble calls on identified projects. 6. Implement low-cost to no-cost solutions or alternatives to projects/repairs of EMS systems at existing school sites 7.

Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems 8. Respond to basic warranty calls 9. Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment 10.

Assist in managing In-House Commissioning Projects 11. Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Required Qualifications: Required Experience: 1. Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in building controls or a related field 2.

Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting 3. Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC maintenance issues 4. Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.

Additional Preferred Experience: 1. Experience working with multiple controls manufacturers including Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane 2. Proven ability to debug installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phases 3.

Experience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sites 4. Extensive experience in performing or assisting in performance of commissioning of EMS Required Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology) OR Two-year technical degree in HVAC, Electronics-related studies with additional 2 years of experience to compensate for education on a year-for-year basis
