Job description

Are you an aspiring Data Analytics professional looking to gain practical experience in the fields of Health Care and Retail, so you can expand your skillset? The Owned Eye Care Data Analytics Internship is an incredible opportunity to put your skills to the test and apply your theoretical knowledge in a real-life business environment.

At VSP Vision, we're on a mission to help people see every possibility-and we do that through our strategic business pillars that work together to connect nearly 90 million patients and their health data to network doctors in a variety of settings across the globe.

As the Owned Eye Care Data Analytics Intern, you'll have the unique opportunity to partner with Health Care and Retail experts and support a dynamic team across its primary functions. You'll have the unique opportunity to gain a broad range of experience in the many elements that contribute to the daily operations of a multi-faceted enterprise and develop critical business competencies through various tasks. During this internship, you may assist with the following duties:

  • Researching and cataloging the current data environment across our seven retail brands
  • Researching the competitive landscape to support internal data projects and programs
  • Keeping innovation and new technologies in focus to help inform internal data projects and programs
  • Supporting data teams to develop and advance current and future data-related initiatives

Preferred Skills:

  • Degree or interest in one of the following areas or related subjects: Data Science, Statistics, or Biostatistics
  • Intermediate knowledge of programming languages such as Python and/or R.
  • Experience with real-world data analytics, machine learning techniques, and computer vision
  • Familiarity with data science platforms (e.g., Databricks, Dataiku, Snowflake, etc.) and data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Previous experience within healthcare, ophthalmology or optometry

Qualities of the ideal candidate:

  • Open to learning new data science skills
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated, team-player mentality

Job-Related Requirements:

  • Facilities to work remotely, including private or semi-private workspace

Education Level: 3rd or 4th year college

Degree Target: Data Science, Statistics, or Biostatistics

Program Dates: June 1st to Aug 7th (You must be able to work the full 10 weeks)
