Job description

Engineering data centers with precision and expertise.
At Strategic Mission Critical, we are more than just engineers; we are experts focusing solely on mission critical facilities. Our seasoned leadership team brings together decades of experience, equipping data center providers worldwide with robust, reliable solutions that keep pace with the evolving digital landscape.
As demand for high-performance infrastructure accelerates - fueled by AI and the expanding digital landscape - SMC continues to lead through technical rigor and operational excellence. We're seeking leaders who think beyond projects to improve the way we deliver them: individuals who elevate people, process, and performance across the firm.
Our Building Information Modeling (BIM) team supports the execution of complex mission critical projects through detailed modeling, BIM standards management, content development, and multidisciplinary coordination.
The team works closely with consultants and internal engineering teams to maintain consistency across projects while improving workflows, model organization, and overall project efficiency through evolving digital tools and technologies.
This internship is designed for students interested in developing hands-on Revit and BIM experience while working alongside experienced industry professionals in a collaborative office environment. You'll gain exposure to real-world projects, BIM workflows, and the role BIM plays in supporting design coordination and project delivery across large-scale data center projects.
This internship is best suited for students pursuing degrees or coursework related to Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), architectural engineering, construction technology, BIM/VDC, or related building systems disciplines aligned with the work performed by our team.
Internship Highlights:
  • Work alongside senior BIM professionals on real-world projects
  • Develop hands-on Revit and BIM modeling experience
  • Gain exposure to mission critical/data center projects
  • Learn BIM standards, model organization, and best practices
  • Exposure to industry-standard software, workflows, and digital tools beyond Revit
  • Gain insight into BIM content management, coordination, and workflow development
  • Structured onboarding and mentorship from experienced team members
  • Collaborative office environment focused on learning and development
  • Opportunity to explore long-term career paths within the BIM industry

Program Logistics:
  • Internship program requires completion of 400 total hours
  • Interns may work between 16-36 hours per week, depending on availability and school schedule
  • Program duration will vary based on weekly hours worked, typically ranging from approximately 12-24 weeks
  • Completion of a Revit course required
  • Compensation: $22.00 / hour

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
