Job description

AV Technical Assistant

Department: Worship

Reports to: Worship Arts Director

FLSA Status: Temporary, part time, 15 hours per week, non-exempt

Date: June 2026

Position Summary: Support the Audio/Video (AV) ministry at Bay Presbyterian Church by assisting in technical planning and execution, system design, equipment maintenance, and producing Sunday morning worship and special events.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the technical execution of the weekend worship service, filling any AV role as needed
  • Primarily support the Production Associate during Sunday morning services
  • Support the Production Associate in maintaining campus technical equipment, including repairs and upgrades
  • Record BCAM footage of one service per week for social media editing
  • Assist in creating, planning, and assembling stage sets including lighting, camera placement/adjustment, and set building
  • Attend weekly production meetings, rehearsals, and other staff meetings as necessary
  • Assist with filming sermon bumpers, GOD@WORK segments, or other themed video productions as needed
  • Support video production projects during summer hours as assigned


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • A willingness to serve the Lord in AV ministry with a desire to grow and mature in faith
  • Working knowledge of AV systems with the ability to learn new systems
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • A team player who works well with others in a collaborative ministry environment
  • A positive attitude with a passion for technical excellence


Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years' experience in live production including camera operation, switching, and audio
  • Bachelor's degree in Audio/Video, Film Studies or related field preferred
  • Satisfactory background check required for all positions


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in English
  • Able to move between office spaces, building areas, and outdoor terrain as needed
  • Able to lift 25 pounds and hold/carry equipment for the position
