Job description

Summary The purpose of this internship is to learn the skills needed to manage social media for a brand, company, or non-profit organization by assisting the BGSU Office of Marketing and Brand Strategy in creating social media content. Other duties such as writing or proofreading may also be required during this internship. Career Readiness Competencies: Career & Self-Development Communication Professionalism Technology Essential Functions Create social media posts for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Twitter, or Facebook.

Research and come up with ideas that can be implemented on various social media channels. Assist in putting together and proofreading Campus Update. Research social media strategy and best practices.

Writing for social media including Tweets, Instagram captions, and Facebook posts. Use various multimedia to enhance social media posts (videos, graphics, photos, etc.). Create graphics for social media using Canva or Photoshop

Create Instagram Reels and TikToks. Minimum Qualifications Must have had some experience either posting or managing a social media page for a student organization, business, or brand. Proofreading and excellent writing skills are a must.

Creativity is a key aspect of this position. Familiarity with Canva design. Additional Information Would like students in this position to have some prior social media experience or a passion for social media.

Interns can work up to 28 hours over the summer and typically work 12-20 hours during the school year depending on schedules. Interns are expected to cover events outside of set hours at some weekend and evening events on a case by case basis. This is for the Official BGSU social media internship so students will be covering events, designing graphics, editing videos, writing captions, coming up with strategies and content plans, etc.
