Job description

This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all God's children supporting the mission of the Church. The incumbent is responsible for accurate and timely preparation of all documentation for foreign shipments. The incumbent is aware of international shipping issues for their assigned countries and applies this knowledge to the preparation of timely and accurate documentation. It is to be expected that all current necessary shipping information pertaining to each shipment is known to the incumbent.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

  • 7 years experience in logistics, freight management, warehouse operations or related field; 

  • Proficiency in PC-based information systems and warehouse management applications; i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Dynamics 365 or supply chain management system preferred; 

  • Ability to accurately type 30 wpm; 

  • Ability to certify for shipping hazardous materials for surface, air, and ocean; 

  • Must be familiar with Six Sigma or continuous improvement practices, or be willing to attend training in the first year of employment to better understand these principles.

  • Spanish language skills preferred. 

  • Performs various functions of the International Shipping Department, to include the preparation of freight bills of landing, shipping, and export documentation, filing functions, and working with outside global freight and logistics providers to ensure that each shipment is expedited through to its final destination. 

  • Has knowledge of  shipping and documentation requirements as dictated by each assigned foreign country; applies this knowledge to the preparation of documentation, and shares it with the supervisor; keeps supervisor informed of development and progress of assigned projects; has knowledge of, and is certified to document hazardous material shipments to be conveyed via surface, air, and ocean; consults with supervisor on section problems and assists in formulating recommendations on shipping procedures, policies, and goals for the International Shipping Department. 

  • Assists in the compilation of shipments where necessary to ensure that all pieces of the shipment are accounted for; capable of operating motorized pallet jack, and other equipment, as needed to prepare shipment for timely processing. 

  • Requests special pickups by freight companies and performs other duties as directed by the International Shipping Supervisor.
