SUMMARY: Perform general maintenance duties in a warehouse / distribution center, including, but not limited to mechanical, basic electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and preventative maintenance activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make conveyor repairs such as belt repair, motor replacement, bearing replacement, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance - oiling, greasing, adjustments, etc
  • Building repairs - racking repairs, concrete repairs, misc. fixtures, etc
  • Complete assigned projects - lighting installs, equipment installs, construction, tear outs, etc.
  • Work as a team to carry out tasks requiring more than one person
  • Learn operation of sorter and overall conveyor system
  • Plumbing work, including drain issues and stopped up toilets
  • Operate various equipment - sitdown lifts, reach trucks, stock pickers, scissor lift, man lift, battery station, etc.
  • Other misc. tasks as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • General maintenance knowledge that provides the skills needed to replace motors, bearings, drive components, hydraulic systems, etc
  • Basic construction and plumbing knowledge
  • Willingness to learn and gain new skills
  • HVAC knowledge is a plus
  • Electrical experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently or with others when needed
  • Self-motivated

PHYSICAL DEMAND

This position requires heavy lifting at times. The ability to work in certain unusual positions may be required at times - overhead, lying down, or under equipment. The position requires climbing stairs and working in confined spaces at times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment can require hearing protection at times. The environment also tends to be dirty/dusty and hot/cold. While the majority of work is located inside there are many instances that work outside the building may be required in less than comfortable weather situations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 yr (3yrs preferred) experience in a maintenance function, preferably in a Distribution or Industrial Environment
  • Dependable transportation
  • Solid means of contact (cell phone or home phone)
  • Willing to work overtime as needed (sometimes on short notice)
  • Occasional weekend work as needed.
