Job Description:

The Director of Internal Communications will lead the strategic development and execution of a comprehensive internal communications function for Cambria, serving approximately 2,000 employees across office-based professional roles and hourly manufacturing environments.

This leader will play a critical role in shaping and strengthening Cambria's employer brand by ensuring employees are informed, inspired, and connected to the company's mission, values, and business priorities. The role requires a balance of high-level strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a lean team environment.

The ideal candidate is a gifted storyteller, a strategic and critical thinker, a relationship builder, and a "dot connector" who can translate complex business initiatives into clear, compelling, and relevant communications for diverse audiences. This role is as much about building the strategy as it is about rolling up sleeves to deliver it.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and own Cambria's enterprise-wide internal communications strategy, aligned with business objectives, culture, and employer brand

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on internal messaging, change communications, and employee engagement

  • Establish communication standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organization

  • Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across all internal channels and audiences

Storytelling & Content Development

  • Lead the creation of engaging, high-impact content that brings Cambria's strategy, culture, and people stories to life

  • Translate complex business initiatives into simple, meaningful messages for both salaried and hourly employee populations

  • Oversee and contribute directly to executive communications, including leadership messages, town halls, videos, and internal campaigns

  • Elevate employee storytelling and recognition efforts across the company

Channel Management & Execution

  • Own and oversee internal communications channels and the messaging that is used on them (e.g., intranet, digital signage, email, meetings, print, video, and live events)

  • Responsible for content production, logistics, and implementation

  • Ensure communications reach and resonate with employees in manufacturing and office environments alike

Collaboration & Relationship Building

  • Build strong partnerships with HR, Marketing, Operations, IT, and senior leaders to ensure alignment and integration of messaging

  • Act as a connector between departments, identifying opportunities to streamline, amplify, and unify internal communications efforts

  • Coach leaders and managers on effective communication practices to strengthen cascade communications

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish metrics and feedback mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of internal communications efforts

  • Use insights and data to continuously improve content, channels, and engagement strategie

QUALIFICATION & SKILLS

  • Proven experience developing and executing enterprise-wide communication strategies

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills

  • Experience communicating to diverse employee audiences, including both professional and frontline/hourly workforces

  • Exceptional at relationship building and collaboration

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a lean team environment

  • Strong attention to details

  • Adaptable and willing to "get into the weeds" when needed

  • Experience in manufacturing or multi-site operations preferred

  • Experience supporting executive leadership communications

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field

Experience: 8-12+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related discipline

Systems:Proficient with Google Suite, social media platforms like Instagram and Linked In

Additional Requirements:

Managerial Responsibilities: Responsible for one direct report

Travel Requirements: Limited travel locally (Eden Prairie, Le Sueur, and Belle Plaine)

Physical Requirements: Office position requiring telephone and computer use. Able to lift to 20 pounds occasionally / sparingly (office supplies, packages, samples). May need to bend, reach, walk, or stoop occasionally. Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk and working on a computer

Cambria's starting salary range for this position is $135,000 - $165,000. Salary/Hourly ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the target for new hires for the position. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including work location, job-related experience, and relevant education and/or training.
