What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Search Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Search Intern, you typically need strong research abilities, analytical thinking, and familiarity with search engine algorithms or digital marketing concepts, often supported by coursework in marketing, communications, or information technology. Experience with tools such as Google Analytics, SEO software, and content management systems is commonly expected. Excellent attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and effective communication skills help you stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for supporting search optimization projects, gathering insights, and contributing to data-driven decision-making processes.

What does an Intern Search do?

An Intern Search typically assists in the recruitment and placement of interns within an organization. Their responsibilities may include posting internship opportunities, reviewing applications, conducting initial screenings, and coordinating interviews. They often work closely with human resources or talent acquisition teams to ensure that internship candidates are a good fit for the company's needs. The role helps streamline the hiring process and provides valuable support to both applicants and the organization.

Job description

Apprenticely is helping SEO Counselors hire a Digital Marketing Operations Intern in Bentonville, AR.  About the Employer:

SEO Counselors is a digital marketing agency that partners with small and medium-sized businesses to strengthen their online presence through SEO, AI-assisted content creation, website management, Google Business Profile optimization, lead generation, and marketing operations.

We're looking for a motivated, curious, and adaptable intern who wants hands-on experience supporting real businesses. This is a generalist role where you'll gain exposure to multiple areas of digital marketing, including SEO, websites, AI, CRM management, content creation, and marketing operations.

Rather than specializing in one area, you'll work alongside a collaborative team while learning the modern marketing tools and technologies that help small businesses grow.

This Might be an Excellent Role For You if:
  • You enjoy learning new technology and picking up new software quickly.
  • You're interested in digital marketing, SEO, AI, and helping small businesses grow.
  • You're organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • You communicate well and aren't afraid to ask questions when you need help.
  • You're confident working independently but know when to collaborate with your team.
  • You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change.
  • You're adaptable, curious, and willing to wear multiple hats.
  • You can balance quality with efficiency.
Responsibilities
Website & Marketing Operations
  • Publish and update content on client websites using WordPress, Wix, Webflow, or similar website platforms.
  • Assist with setting up and maintaining client information across websites and digital marketing platforms.
  • Support CRM management including lead capture forms, email campaigns, SMS campaigns, and follow-up automations.
  • Assist with connecting marketing tools and basic API integrations.
  • Help coordinate client deliverables, project timelines, and marketing operations.
SEO & Local Marketing
  • Assist with AI discovery (AEO), local SEO, citation management, and online directory updates.
  • Create and manage Google Business Profile posts, photos, offers, and business updates.
  • Help monitor and maintain accurate online business listings.
  • Run basic website audits for SEO best practices.
  • Pull and summarize SEO and marketing performance reports.
Content & AI
  • Utilize AI tools to help draft blog posts, landing pages, service pages, and other website content.
  • Repurpose content across websites, Google Business Profiles, email campaigns, and other marketing channels.
  • Learn and follow the agency's AI-assisted content creation process.
Research & Client Support
  • Conduct market, competitor, and keyword research to support client strategies.
  • Provide professional customer support while helping clients understand marketing recommendations.
  • Assist with marketing research and structured outreach initiatives using CRM and automation tools.
What a Successful Candidate Looks Like:
  • 0-3 years of experience in marketing, communications, business, web content, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with at least one website builder such as WordPress, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace, or a similar platform.
  • Basic understanding of SEO, website traffic, search engines, or digital marketing concepts.
  • Interest in AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable learning new software and technology.
  • Experience with Google Business Profile, Canva, GoHighLevel, Google Search Console, Semrush, Ahrefs, Search Atlas, or similar marketing tools is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with small businesses or in customer-facing roles is a plus.

If you're excited about digital marketing, emerging AI technologies, and helping local businesses build a stronger online presence, we'd love to hear from you!

Our Must Haves:
  • Current Arkansas state resident
  • Ability to pass a standard background check
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week, following the three-month internship
  • Ability to work full-time in the United States without a current or future need for visa sponsorship
  • High curiosity and interest in learning new technologies and growing or starting your IT career
  • Technical aptitude exhibited through projects, experience, or online learning and the ability to communicate what you know
$15 - $15 an hour

Pay: $15/hour
Schedule: 40-hour week (Monday-Friday)
Length of Internship: 3 months
Location: Hybrid in Northwest Arkansas (primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings)

This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience with the opportunity to transition into a long-term position for the right candidate.

How does the interview process work? Apprenticely will conduct an initial phone interview and assessment. Apprenticely will send selected resumes to companies that match the candidate's skills and interests. Our employer partners will decide who to interview and select the final candidates for the internship program.
