Job description

Interim Director of Pharmacy

Location: St. Louis, MO Area

Specialty Medical Staffing is currently seeking an Interim Director of Pharmacy for a behavioral health hospital assignment in the St. Louis, MO area. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a pharmacist with inpatient behavioral health experience who enjoys a hands-on role supporting pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, and department oversight.

Assignment Details

  • Start: July 2026
  • Duration: Approximately 6+ weeks
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm plus on-call
  • Weekend: On-call only

Requirements

  • Active Missouri Pharmacist License in good standing
  • Medication Therapy Services Certification required
  • Inpatient behavioral health experience required
  • Pyxis experience required
  • Leadership or management experience preferred
  • Experience with HCS preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for pharmacy operations
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and pharmacy administration
  • Continue pharmacy setup and operational readiness activities
  • Procure, package, and manage medication inventory
  • Stock and maintain Pyxis automation systems
  • Perform medication order verification and clinical review
  • Support regulatory compliance and pharmacy best practices
  • Serve as a pharmacy resource for hospital staff and leadership
