Controller (Plant Controller) North Bay, Ontario Build More Than Financial Statements. Help Build the Business. For over 40 years, G&P Welding & Ironworks Ltd. has been designing and fabricating structural steel products that become part of bridges, commercial buildings, industrial facilities and infrastructure throughout Ontario. With approximately 50 employees, we are a well-established and financially stable custom steel fabrication company entering an exciting new chapter. After the retirement of our long-tenured Controller, we are searching for the right person to become a key member of our leadership team. This isn't a corporate accounting role. This is a true Plant Controller position where you'll see projects move from blueprint to finished product while providing the financial leadership that helps the business succeed. If you enjoy manufacturing, project accounting, job costing and working directly with owners who value financial insight, we'd like to meet you. ------------------------------- Why This Opportunity? This is an excellent opportunity for either: * An experienced CPA looking for a long-term leadership role; or * An ambitious accounting professional with strong manufacturing or construction finance experience who is ready to take the next step with mentorship and support. ------------------------------- What You'll Be Responsible For As our Controller, you'll lead the financial operations of the business including: * Full cycle accounting and monthly financial reporting * Financial statement preparation and analysis * Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management * Job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and profitability analysis * Supporting estimating and project financial performance * Managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger functions * Administering bi-weekly management payroll while supporting payroll processes * Developing and maintaining financial controls * Supporting annual external financial reviews * Assisting with ERP administration and process improvement * Managing and implementing new processes * Interacting with all employees * Providing financial advice that supports business growth and operational decision-making ------------------------------- What Will Make You Successful You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy: ✔ Manufacturing and project-based accounting ✔ Understanding how jobs are built—not just how they're billed ✔ Reading project information and understanding the financial impact of production decisions ✔ Working closely with operations and ownership ✔ Improving systems and processes ✔ Being hands-on while thinking strategically ------------------------------- Qualifications We're interested in people who bring a combination of experience, business judgment and leadership.
