Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Observes and assists professionals in the assigned department to learn about areas of career interest.

  • Assists, as necessary, in the coordination, administration, or monitoring of specific programs.

  • Assists, as necessary, with researching, collecting and organizing data, performing analyses, and preparing reports to supplement knowledge gained through academic courses.

  • Participates, as necessary, in finding solutions to existing problems and discusses recommendations with administrative personnel to acquire skills in problem solving.

  • Assists with special projects.

Notes to Candidate:

Austin Fire (AFD) is seeking a Business Intelligence Intern to develop data visualization and Business Intelligence tools for the Research & Data Analytics section. This role supports the design, implementation, and interpretation of data collected through internal reporting.

Intern Responsibilities:

The Business Intelligence Intern will analyze quantitative and qualitative data collected through AFD's accreditation and performance management programs, assisting in the development of clear, actionable reports and functioning Microsoft Power BI dashboards that support accreditation and performance measure reporting requirements. The intern will support data validation efforts by identifying trends, outliers, and emerging themes in community input, and will help organize, clean, and maintain datasets and related documentation. Additional responsibilities include contributing to research that identifies community risks, service gaps, and opportunities for operational improvement, as well as participating in special projects within the Research & Data Analytics Division as assigned.

Salary Range: This internship is unpaid. Interns may be eligible to earn college credit, subject to their institution's approval.

Days and Hours:

The structure of the internship is flexible; however, we are looking for someone who can devote a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.

Telework: This position is an on-site role.
