Job description

The Integration Engineer will design, build, and maintain the middleware, APIs, and data pipelines that connect our core business systems-ecommerce, ERP, forecasting, data warehouse, and more-ensuring seamless, reliable data flow across the organization. As a individual contributor on a small team, you'll collaborate closely with business stakeholders, operations, development teams, and external partners, provide production support (including 24/7 oncall rotations for critical incidents), and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • API & Middleware Development: Architect, develop, and optimize APIs and middleware components (primarily MuleSoft; Apache Airflow secondary) to support integrations with ecommerce, ERP (SAP Business ByDesign), forecasting, and other business applications.
  • Data Flow Architecture: Define, diagram, and document endtoend data flows and integration patterns, ensuring clarity, scalability, and adherence to governance standards.
  • HandsOn Integrations: Implement and maintain integrations-EDI (PO, ASN, Invoice), web services, webhooks, and API gateways-and troubleshoot production issues, including logging, error handling, and rootcause analysis.
  • Production Support & Monitoring: Monitor integration workflows in production, respond to support tickets, and perform troubleshooting. This role may require 24/7 oncall support for productioncritical issues, ensuring rapid incident response and resolution.
  • CrossFunctional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders (IT, operations, finance, external vendors) to gather requirements, manage expectations, and drive integration roadmaps.
  • Mentoring & Documentation: Mentor lesssenior engineers, maintain uptodate integration documentation and runbooks, and develop training materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field-or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of handson API/middleware/integration engineering experience, including at least 2 years of dedicated MuleSoft development.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • MuleSoft (primary middleware) and Apache Airflow (secondary) or other preexisting Middleware experience
    • SQL Server (TSQL, stored procedures)
    • Shopify ecommerce platform
    • SAP Business ByDesign ERP
    • EDI standards and B2B integrations (PO, ASN, Invoice)
    • Web Services (REST/SOAP), Webhooks, and API development
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring abilities; strong organizational skills to juggle multiple projects.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications in MuleSoft, Microsoft SQL Server, or relevant integration technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and SaaS integration patterns.
  • Experience with data warehouse environments and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (PCI, GDPR, SOC 2).
