Intake Receptionist

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Intake Receptionist is responsible for handling various aspects related to new patient referrals, responsible for handling fax systems and triaging incoming clinical phone calls. The Intake Receptionist creates impact in the new patient referral process by ensuring necessary referral documentation is obtained, communicated to/from, and actioned upon as appropriate by the intake team, clinical managers, and other ancillary team members. The Intake Receptionist is an essential part of the closing the gap from new referral to new patient by ensuring patient referrals are handled with urgency and accuracy. Reports directly to Patient Admissions Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma required
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting or receptionist position
  • Knowledge of electronic fax systems and phone handling desired
  • Experience in EMR concepts and Office 365 Programs and willing to learn new programs preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Processing new referrals, screening for administrative requirements

Creating new charts, checking Medicare eligibility, referring to Insurance Coordinator as appropriate

Communicating new referrals to the intake team for clinical review, clinician staffing, maintaining patient referral log

Processing faxes from two systems, routing appropriately and attaching to charts

Handling and routing appropriately physical mail daily

Fielding phone calls with inquires related to existing patients, answering within scope of role, and connecting to appropriate internal care team member for resolution

Identifies opportunities for work process improvements

Cross-training to other roles in the intake team to cover for PTO and open positions as needed

Maintains personal and company compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory requirements for home health

Establishes, encourages positive working relationships with internal/external contacts

Preserves, expands working knowledge of external resources to complete work process

Performs other functions that may be assigned from time to time
