Job description

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. with more than 110 attorneys, we encompass a broad spectrum of transactional and litigation practice areas for large corporations, small businesses, and governmental entities

Our Columbia, South Carolina location is seeking an experienced legal assistant to join our Insurance Defense team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain attorney calendars, including court dates, depositions, hearings, and client meetings.
  • Track and manage litigation deadlines with precision.
  • Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents with courts and agencies.
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel to arrange schedules and logistics.
  • Manage case files (electronic and physical), ensuring all documents are organized and accessible.
  • Assist with billing and time entry as needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to attorneys and paralegals in the practice group.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a legal assistant, preferably in insurance defense or litigation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in calendaring systems, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with a positive, professional demeanor.
