Job description

The legal team at Alan

You will join Alan's Corporate team, working on complex regulatory and business challenges as Alan scales. You will benefit from close mentorship and structured support - you won't be left on your own. You will collaborate closely with Alan's Business, Product, and Care teams on day-to-day matters. At Alan, roles evolve: you will have real opportunities to take on new challenges and expand your scope as you grow.

Your missions Regulatory watch and compliance
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments applicable to Alan's insurance products and contracts (ACPR guidelines, health and disability insurance rules, distribution regulations).
  • Translate regulatory obligations into operational tools and processes.
  • Contribute to responses to inspections and audits, and to compliance reporting to internal bodies and regulators.
  • Support efforts to influence regulatory evolutions, in collaboration with public affairs teammates.
Business support
  • Contribute to RFP responses, contractual negotiations with clients and partners, and direct engagement with prospects.
  • Support Alan's positioning in business conversations with a sound understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Contribute to compliance projects across Alan's markets (primarily France, with growing international scope).
Product excellence and member protection
  • Help identify the best ways to meet regulatory requirements within our products while improving the member experience (pricing, options design, UX, complaints management).
  • Contribute to protecting Alan's competitive positioning on key regulatory topics.
Internal legal autonomy
  • Help build internal legal frameworks, templates, and decisionโ€‘making guidelines.
  • Identify which matters can be handled inโ€‘house versus with external counsel.
  • Actively use AI tools to improve efficiency and scale legal operations within your scope.
Key outcomes after six months
  • Contributed meaningfully to an RFP response or contractual negotiation, demonstrating practical autonomy and sound regulatory judgment.
  • Taken endโ€‘toโ€‘end ownership of defined legal workstreams (compliance analysis, product review, regulatory reporting, complaints management) with reliable quality.
  • Earned the trust of internal partners (Sales, Care, Product) as a pragmatic legal partner.
  • Contributed to internal tools or frameworks that increase Alan's legal autonomy.
Profile we are looking for Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in insurance law and/or social protection law, gained at a top insurance law firm or insurance company.
  • French (fluent) and English (professional level).
  • Exposure to commercial health and/or disability insurance matters (advising, litigation, or inโ€‘house).
  • Familiarity with French insurance regulatory frameworks (ACPR, distribution rules, applicable insurance law).
  • Bonus: experience on international markets and drafting in English; experience at a regulatory authority.
Qualities we look for to join our team
  • Autonomy and ownership: You take initiative, structure your work independently, flag risks proactively, and own your outputs.
  • Business pragmatism: You quickly distinguish what really matters from theoretical legal points and provide practical, actionable answers.
  • Rigor and precision: You produce highโ€‘quality work with attention to detail and clear, concise writing.
  • Intellectual curiosity and coachability: You are eager to grow into unfamiliar areas, open to feedback, and motivated by a steep learning curve.
  • Innovative problemโ€‘solving and initiative: Willingness to take considered risks and propose new approaches.
  • Bonus: Interest in leveraging technology and AI to streamline legal work.
How we work
  • Location: You must be legally eligible to work from France.
  • Remote work: We offer remote work flexibility, but we value inโ€‘person collaboration.
Important note: we hire people, not roles.

If you're excited about this opportunity but don't check every box, we'd love to hear from you. Everyone, no matter how underrepresented, should feel free to apply, as it can only bring learnings or success.

Remember, this is just a guide, not a checklist. We'll be thrilled to receive your application!
