Job description

Position Summary: 

As the Insurance, Legal, and Policy Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing research and support for i

This role will report to EverDriven's Chief Policy and Legal Officer in supporting Legal and Policy initiatives, and will partner closely with Contract Management, Operations, Legal, and Finance to ensure insurance coverage aligns with contractual and business requirements, and to drive a culture of risk awareness across the organization.  The role will also provide administrative and office support in EverDriven's HQ, at the direction of the Chief Policy and Legal Officer.

Salary Range: $95K-$115K/year based on experience + bonus potential  
Location - Greenwood Village, CO.  Hybrid role - 4 days in the office and 1 days remote.

Responsibilities:

Insurance (40% of role):

  • Maintain a Colorado insurance producer license, which authorizes the holder to advise on, solicit, and manage insurance matters in the state. EverDriven will support securing the producer license if not already achieved.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on insurance requirements related to vehicle operations, student transportation, and general business liability
  • Review client and vendor contracts to assess insurance and risk-related provisions, ensuring alignment with coverage and compliance standards
  • Manage all Surety Bonds
  • Manage collection, tracking, and validation of certificates of insurance (COIs), endorsements, and policy documentation for service providers and vendors
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers and carriers on policy placement, renewals, claims handling, and escalated coverage issues
  • Work with other Compliance department staff to build internal audit processes to monitor insurance compliance
  • Support and educate internal stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Sales, Contract Management) on insurance expectations, coverage types, and claims procedures
  • Manage the intake and coordination of claims, ensuring proper documentation and resolution in partnership with brokers, TPAs, and Legal
  • Coordinate external counsel in all instances of claim escalation

 Legal (30% of role):

  • Assist with legal research and analysis for deliverables on commercial and regulatory legal projects
  • Draft, review, and redline commercial contracts with a focus on insurance, indemnification, and liability provisions, flagging material risk exposure to Legal leadership
  • Assist with maintaining a tracker of active litigation matters, including supporting document collection and coordination with external counsel
  • Assist in preparing legal memos, briefing materials, and internal guidance documents for the Chief Policy and Legal Officer
  • Support compliance reviews and internal investigations directed by Legal, handling all materials with appropriate confidentiality

Policy (20% of role):

  • Assist with research and analysis for deliverables on policy and regulatory projects.
  • Monitor state and federal legislative and regulatory activity affecting student transportation and special needs services; prepare summaries and recommended responses
  • Assist in drafting public comment letters, regulatory submissions, and internal policy position papers
  • Maintain an internal policy compliance calendar tracking regulatory deadlines across EverDriven's operating states
  • Support government affairs initiatives and help build and maintain relationships with industry associations and regulatory contacts, at the direction of the Chief Policy and Legal Officer

Administrative & Office Support (10% of role):

  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Policy and Legal Officer, including calendar management, meeting preparation, and internal correspondence
  • Coordinate departmental invoicing, outside counsel billing review, and budget tracking for the Legal and Policy function
  • Maintain organized filing systems for contracts, litigation records, insurance documents, and policy materials

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in insurance, risk management, and contract compliance, preferably in transportation, logistics, or student services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial insurance coverages including auto liability, general liability, workers' compensation, and professional liability
  • Ability to interpret and assess contractual insurance terms and evaluate risk exposure across agreements
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills with experience developing training or guidance materials
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); Salesforce experience preferred
  • Active Colorado insurance license as a producer preferred-  this license enables the individual to legally discuss, negotiate, and oversee insurance coverage on behalf of the company
