As a Full-Time Total Loss Claims Specialist at First Chicago Insurance Company (FCIC), you will review and determine the course of action for each assigned claim, leveraging your technical expertise to support the final disposition of losses. Your role involves investigating and evaluating total loss files for both insureds and third-party claimants, ensuring prompt follow-up on necessary documentation like signed titles to facilitate efficient salvage resolution. You will maintain thorough documentation and keep accurate records of each claim's activity while prioritizing and organizing work to ensure timely conclusions. By preparing and presenting claim evaluations for settlement authority, you will directly collaborate with both internal and external customers to establish facts and gather evidence.

What you need to be successful
To excel as a Full-Time Total Loss Claims Specialist at First Chicago Insurance Company (FCIC), you need a solid foundation of skills and experiences that align with our dynamic work environment. Ideally, you possess 2-3 years of previous auto insurance or auto-related experience, coupled with excellent analytical and organizational abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills-both verbal and written-are essential as you will interact with various stakeholders. A general working knowledge of claims policies, file procedures, and state rules and regulations is crucial for navigating the complexities of each claim.
The ability to pass written examinations for licensing as a Claims Adjuster is required. While a college degree and prior claims experience are preferred, familiarity with online claims systems will set you apart from the competition. Being bi-lingual is a plus, enabling you to connect with a broader range of clients and enhance customer service delivery.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2-3 years previous auto claims insurance handling or other auto related experience required
  • Excellent analytical
  • organizational, interpersonal, and communication (verbal, written, and phone) skills
  • General working knowledge of policies, file procedures, state rules, and regulations
  • Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed Claims Adjuster
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Ability to use on-line claims system
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus but not required
