Wenham Carter is supporting a specialist disability insurance MGU with the hire of a Senior Disability Underwriter to join their growing team.


Springfield, MA preferred or Miami, FL


This is a strong opportunity for someone with US disability underwriting experience who wants more visibility, more ownership, and longer-term scope to grow into underwriting leadership.


The role will focus on complex disability cases across:

Individual Disability Insurance

Group Long-Term Disability

Domestic IDI

Impaired-risk cases

Guaranteed Standard Issue business

Surplus Lloyd’s coverage


The ideal candidate will have:

3–10 years of disability underwriting experience

Strong medical and financial underwriting knowledge

Experience with IDI, GLTD, GSI, impaired-risk, or complex disability cases

Confidence making independent underwriting decisions

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

A proactive, commercial, and solutions-focused approach

Interest in long-term progression into underwriting leadership
