Property Accounting Specialist
At Flaherty & Collins Properties, great communities depend on strong financial operations behind the scenes. Our Property Accounting team helps ensure that property-level financial information is accurate, timely, and useful to the teams making decisions every day.
We're looking for a Property Accounting Specialist who is detail-oriented, organized, and motivated by getting the numbers right. If you enjoy working with financial data, solving problems, and partnering with Property Management teams to keep things running smoothly, this could be a great opportunity for you.
What You'll Do:
  • Support the day-to-day accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and assist with monthly financial close activities.
  • Perform monthly bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Review property financial activity to identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, or items requiring follow-up.
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other property-level accounting processes.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements and property reports.
  • Work closely with Property Managers to answer accounting questions and provide financial information.
  • Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, and budget-to-actual variance reporting.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with audits, tax requests, lender reporting, and other financial information requests as needed.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to process improvements and special projects that increase the efficiency and accuracy of the accounting team.

What Makes You a Great Fit:
  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferred, with real estate or property accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring monthly deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with property management or accounting software is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Property Management and Accounting teams.
  • You're proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work.
